LimTex Braid

LIMTEX

SYNTHETIC POLYMER BRAIDED SLEEVING

  • New and unique fabrication material.
  • Developed specifically for the manufacture of Prosthetic sockets.
  • Dynamic stiffness.
  • High impact resistance.

LIMTEX = dynamic stiffness + strength = low weight +
stiffness regulation by layering and fiber orientation.

LIGHTER, LESS STIFF, STRONGER

LimTex is lighter than regular glass braided sleeving and has 90% the level of stiffness with 5 X the impact resistance, for the same carbon layup, at a much lower cost.

AVAILABLE IN NATURAL WHITE

Available in natural white only that
provides a great background for LimbArt Prosthetic Laminating Sleeves in any design or colour.

STIFF OR FLEXIBLE SOCKETS

Depending on practitioner preference,
stiffness can be easily regulated by
choosing the appropriate number of
braided sleeving layers.

EASY TO USE

The LimTex Braided Sleeving is very easy to use and very shape conformable with large circumference size ranges.

100% ECO FRIENDLY

LimTex is 100% green & eco-friendly which produces less “flying fibers” and fabricators benefit from reduced “itch” factor during handling, grinding and sanding.

WETS OUT FASTER

LimTex wets out fast due to its high
fiber/resin interface, eliminating air
entrapment and potential voids.

GREAT FATIGUE STRENGTH

LimTex provides great fatigue and
torsional strength due to its unique
braided architecture.

LOWER COST

More cost effective than knitted fiberglass stockinette and other traditional braids.

PRODUCT TECHNICAL INFORMATION

  • LAMINATING

For the best edging results, use 4 layers of perlon stockinette as the foundation layer and 2 layers on the outside.

½ oz Dacron felt is ideal as the first layer to provide an ultra smooth internal surface.

Use our Uni-Directional tape to reinforce the proximal brim and other areas of the socket as needed.

  • USE WITH LIMBART SLEEVES

LimTex braid will create incredible color combinations and enhancement when used in conjunction with LimbArt Sleeves or pigmented designs.

  • GRINDING

LimTex is not carbon, it simply requires a different finishing technique.

Only use sharp abrasives, dull abrasives will generate heat and cause smearing/burnishing of the fibers.

Practice using a “light touch” technique with a sharp cone.

Use high speed and low pressure to avoid smearing of the fibers.

  • EDGE FINISHING

Finish using conventional wet sanding with 220 grit, followed by 400 grit wet & dry sanding paper.

The use of inner and outer layers of perlon stockinette / or a LimbArt sleeve is recommended.

  • TIPS

LimTex braid will considerably enhance the colors of graphic art designs applied as the final layer.

Use LimTex braid to replace layers of knitted Perlon or Fiberglass stockinette.

For extra bright graphics, use white pigment with the first stage lamination and use LimTex braid with a LimbArt sleeve as the final layer for the second stage lamination.

LIMTEX SIZES

PRODUCT SKU CIRCUM. SIZE RANGE IN INCHES CIRCUM. SIZE RANGE IN CM

LTX8-X 12” ~ 30” 30cm ~ 75cm
LTX10-X 16” ~ 38” 35cm ~ 95cm
LTX12-X 20” ~ 48” 50cm ~ 120cm

Replace the X at the end of the SKU with the length required.

Note 1: Braided Sleeving is stretched out flat and cut to length when relaxed.

Note 2: The above circumferential dimensions in inches and centimeters are approximate and may vary without notice and are intended as a guide to assist in selecting the most appropriate size of braided sleeving for your application.

Note 3: Beware of purchasing braided sleeving that has low aerial weight, (grams per square meter) and produces a “fish net” effect when applied over your socket. It may be cheaper but it won’t look good aesthetically
